Die Plänter
Currently: Die Plänter are guests at the Kita am Karpfenteich
At the end of September 2026, there was a fire in the kitchen of our daycare. Nobody was hurt, and the fire was not our fault. Our rooms are now being renovated and are therefore currently not accessible. Until we can return, we are guests at our partner daycare, the Kita am Karpfenteich in Treptower Park.
Visits currently only in the forest: Due to the current situation, we only offer visits (tours of the daycare) in the forest. Unfortunately, our rooms cannot be visited during the renovation.
Visits take place on Thursdays at 9:45 am. Please register in advance – by phone at 030 624 94 07 or via our contact page.
Our forest daycare
needs you!
After a kitchen fire that was not our fault, our daycare is closed – fortunately nobody was hurt. We want to be back in the forest by the end of January 2027. To make this happen, we are pre-financing the renovation.

Why your child is in good hands with us
Mostly outdoors
We spend most of the day outdoors – in Plänterwald forest and by the Spree river, in all weather, even in rain and snow.
A fixed place to retreat
Unlike a pure forest daycare, we have our own rooms for lunch and naps. This makes full-day care possible from the age of 1.
Small, stable group
Up to 25 children in a stable, mixed-age group – with age-appropriate activities in under-3 and over-3 subgroups.
Organic meals
Breakfast and afternoon snack buffet instead of lunch boxes, healthy snacks and a vegetarian lunch – all organic.
Nature with all the senses
Our natural and kitchen garden, our bee project and our own forest equipment invite the children to explore.
Our concept Mosaik – WeG
Gestalt education, learning in everyday life and the Berlin Education Program are the building blocks of our work.
How the children experience the forest
- Experiencing nature in all weather – even in rain and snow
- Discovering the forest with all the senses: feeling, smelling, listening, playing, building
- Getting to know trees, birds and insects and observing the seasons
- Whittling, crafting with natural materials and building dens
- Learning how to behave in the forest
- More forest, less playground
What parents appreciate about us
- An international environment: our families speak German, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian and languages from India
- Varied organic food – parents don’t have to worry about a thing
- Children who walk a lot and are used to outings
- Sports on the sports field next door
- The bee project at our partner daycare at the Karpfenteich
- Flexible drop-off and pick-up times
- Daycare app for communicating with parents
- Regular parents’ café
What does “integrated forest daycare” mean?
Our forest daycare combines the concept of a pure forest daycare with permanent premises. The children spend most of the day outdoors in the forest; we use the rooms for lunch and naps, among other things.
We developed this model at this location in 2006 because demand for full-day care with a focus on forest and nature education was growing.
Where does the name come from?
“Plentern” is a forestry term that roughly means “thinning out”: in such a forest, trees of all ages grow at the same time.
Today, Plänterwald forest covers around 89 hectares with beech and oak trees up to 270 years old. This way we can bring nature closer to city children – and still be in the center of Berlin in about 15 minutes by bus and train.
Our educational approach
In a stable, mixed-age group, we want to experience fun, joy, variety and excitement with the children and foster their competences and individuality. Education begins at birth – we connect with each child individually.
The building blocks of our concept “Mosaik – WeG” are interlinked in all our daycare centers and weighted differently depending on the location.
- Education in everyday life
- Documentation and presence
- Gestalt education as a concept of contact
- Clear room concept
- Fostering the child’s areas of competence
- Pedagogical approach
- Actively putting the Berlin Education Program into practice
Always well connected: our daycare app
To communicate with you, all our daycare centers use the daycare app Kikom. This way you are always up to date – simply, quickly and directly on your smartphone.
- Child sick or on holiday? Simply report it in the app
- Latest information on programs, activities and dates
- Parents’ evenings and parent representative meetings also online – via video call directly in the app
- Direct exchange between daycare and parents
- Secure: the data is stored on servers in Germany
